Planet News: Ethereum developers @linoscope and @JustinDrake jointly proposed the EIP-7917 proposal, aiming to restructure the validator election process through a deterministic proposer preview mechanism. The core innovations of the proposal include: pre-calculating a deterministic proposer sequence at the beginning of an epoch; eliminating prediction bias caused by the existing RANDAO randomness and effective balance weighting mechanism; maintaining full compatibility with existing infrastructure. Under the current design, dynamic changes in validator effective balance would make it impossible to accurately predict future epoch proposers, posing risks to pre-confirmation protocols like MEV-boost. According to calculations, the new scheme can improve the security margin of on-chain applications such as oracles by 40%.
