According to Enewstoday, reports that 7-Eleven convenience stores in South Korea will participate in the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) payment test from April 1 to June 30. It is the only convenience store chain involved in the pilot program. During the trial period, customers can enjoy a 10% discount on all product categories when paying with CBDC. The nationwide pilot plan is led by the Bank of Korea and financial regulatory authorities, with a limit of 100,000 participants, covering multiple banks and retail channels. Users can convert bank deposits into equivalent CBDC for consumption. The project aims to promote the prototype construction of future monetary systems.
