Ethereum (ETH) Petra Upgrade will be implemented on the 7th of next month. The Petra Upgrade is the largest Ethereum network upgrade since the Dencun Upgrade in 2023.
According to CoinDesk on the 4th, the implementation date for the Ethereum Petra Upgrade has been confirmed for the 7th of next month. The upgrade schedule was reportedly decided at the Ethereum core developer meeting held that day. The explanation is that after the upgrade was tested without issues on the third testnet 'Holesky', the mainnet application was finally determined.

Initially, the Petra Upgrade was scheduled to be implemented in mid-last month, but it was postponed due to consecutive bugs in the previous two testnets 'Holesky' and 'Sepolia'. The Ethereum Foundation explained at the time that the bugs were "not a defect of the Petra Upgrade itself" and that "additional testing is needed before applying the upgrade to the mainnet".
The Petra Upgrade is expected to be the largest Ethereum network upgrade since the Dencun Upgrade in 2023. The key focus is on improving user experience and efficiency of the Ethereum network. Major improvements include account abstraction (EIP-3074) and expansion of validator staking limits (EIP-7251).
Experts believe the Petra Upgrade could revitalize Ethereum's recently stagnant atmosphere. However, ETH prices are declining due to the aftermath of Donald Trump's mutual tariff announcement the previous day. As of 1:15 PM on the 4th, according to CoinMarketCap, ETH is trading at $1,787.6, down 2.17% from the previous day.
