On April 5th, OpenAI founder Sam Altman wrote that "OpenAI plans to release O3 and O4-Mini before GPT-5, possibly in a few weeks, and then launch GPT-5 in a few months. There are many reasons for this, but the most exciting is that we will be able to make GPT-5 better than we initially envisioned. Seamlessly integrating everything is much more difficult than we imagined, and we want to ensure there is sufficient capacity to support the unprecedented demand expected to emerge."
