
PANews reported on April 12 that according to News.bitcoin, investigators from the Ohio Criminal Investigation Bureau (BCI) helped a cryptocurrency scam victim in Hamilton County recover $35,000.
The recovered funds originated from a cryptocurrency fraud involving an elderly person in Delhi Town in August 2024. The authorities explained: "A 73-year-old woman from Delhi Town received a pop-up message on her laptop claiming her device had been hacked. She called a number she believed was a Microsoft helpline and spoke with scammers. The scammers instructed her to withdraw cash and convert it to Bit at a Bit ATM. Ultimately, the victim transferred a total of $41,750 through multiple transactions."
