Pence served as vice president during Trump's first term. In an interview with The Hill on the 9th, he said that although the U.S. government has withdrawn some of the harshest tariff measures imposed on allies, its aggressive tariff policy could still pose potential risks to the Republican Party's midterm elections. Pence is another important Republican figure criticizing the tariff policy. Previously, the tariff policy had been criticized by multiple congressional members within the Republican Party.
