Vitalik: The growth of the application layer is the period when good social philosophy is most needed

Planet Daily News: In response to the discussion about "Ethereum's self-update depends on generational replacement and value inheritance" on Warpcast, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that the development stage of the application layer especially needs good social philosophical support. He gave an example: "If C++ was developed by totalitarians, the language itself might not be worse, because it is a general-purpose tool. But Ethereum Layer-1 is different; those who do not believe in decentralization will not promote progress like light clients or PoS." He pointed out that approximately 50% of the Ethereum protocol layer is universal, but about 80% of the application layer depends on the builders' values. Vitalik emphasized: "What you choose to build largely depends on your understanding of what Ethereum can bring to the world, so having the right concept is crucial."
