PANews reported on April 22 that according to The New York Times, the U.S. Department of Justice stated at an antitrust hearing in Washington that to break Google's monopoly in the web search field, it should be forced to divest core assets such as the Chrome browser. The prosecution argued that Chrome is a key entry point to search engines, and a breakup would help competitors access market data and improve services. The case is expected to last three weeks, with the final "remedial measures" to be determined in the summer.
