According to ChainCatcher, Paul Atkins, the new SEC Chairman, stated at the third crypto roundtable: "The focus of today's roundtable discussion is the challenges faced by SEC registrants when attempting to safely custody crypto assets for clients in accordance with federal securities laws."
Should the custody rules be modified under the Securities Exchange Act, Investment Advisers Act, or Investment Company Act to accommodate crypto assets, which is a unique brokerage business? Is the existing framework viable for market participants, or does it require a new crypto asset broker-dealer framework?"
