PANews reported on April 29 that according to Cointelegraph, Ethereum co-executive director Tomasz Kajetan Stańczak revealed on social platforms that the Fusaka hard fork upgrade is planned to be implemented in the third or fourth quarter of 2025, with the specific time not yet finalized. On the same day, core developer Tim Beiko announced that due to potential technical uncertainties affecting the upgrade progress, the controversial Ethereum Virtual Machine Object Format (EOF) upgrade has been removed from Fusaka.
EOF was originally planned to comprehensively reform smart contract development through 12 EIP proposals, including introducing the RJUMP instruction to replace traditional JUMP and adopting optimized solutions like structured bytecode containers. Supporters believe this will improve EVM efficiency, but opponents argue that it overly complicates the system and requires synchronous updates to the development tool chain. A dedicated poll on the ETH voting platform ETHPulse showed that 39 addresses holding 17,745 ETH oppose the upgrade.
