Nexon is set to launch its first blockchain game 'MapleStory N' in overseas regions mid-this month.
According to the gaming industry on the 5th, Nexon's blockchain game subsidiary Nexspace announced through its official MapleStory N website and Discord channel that the game will be officially released on the 15th of this month.
MapleStory N is a blockchain game based on Nexon's flagship online game MapleStory, where players can freely trade items or game money obtained through gameplay as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT).
Nexspace has been accelerating development by conducting two MapleStory N tests last year.
Nexspace unveiled the subnet 'Henesis L1' based on Avalanche (AVAX) as the blockchain mainnet for MapleStory N, and also introduced the token 'NXPC'.
According to the whitepaper, NXPC serves as the base currency for Nexon's blockchain game ecosystem, and users can exchange game money Neso (NESO) or item NFTs for NXPC through gameplay.
Nexon unveiled the blockchain game project 'MapleStory Universe' in 2023 using MapleStory IP. The plan is to create a new blockchain game ecosystem with the core game MapleStory N, mobile version games, MapleStory N World where various contents can be created and enjoyed based on NFTs, and a software development kit (SDK).
However, there are currently no plans to service MapleStory N in Korea, where blockchain game operations are impossible under the game industry law.
