According to ChainCatcher, citing Blockworks, Coinbase has recently completed a talent acquisition, specifically targeting Opyn's CEO Andrew Leone and his Head of Research Joe Clark. Leone and Clark will now join the Onchain Markets team, which operates within Coinbase's institutional organization, focusing on verified pools and other development plans centered on on-chain market products.
As Coinbase officially stated: "The Opyn team has been committed to building in the DeFi space since the early days; they were the first developers of a DeFi options protocol, inventors of Power Perpetuals, and the team behind Squeeth. The team possesses deep on-chain technical expertise, a profound understanding of traditional market structures, and practical experience in building decentralized products from scratch, which is rare in the industry.
The reason for choosing talent acquisition is that the company's operational model is 'build/acquire/collaborate/invest'. Each pathway depends on the areas we believe have the most impact—whether through technology, market influence, or talent."
