On July 16, Cosmos shared its product updates and future plans on the X platform. The team stated that they will pause the plan to launch an EVM platform on Cosmos Hub and will reassess the related path, but will continue to invest in the Cosmos EVM L1 stack to support builders in launching their own EVM chains.
The team described the EVM plan as providing a promising and unique role for the Hub in the Cosmos ecosystem. Future virtual machine (VM) or Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) upgrades may still unlock new services or onboarding paths, and therefore, the team is willing to revisit this approach while continuously understanding the needs of institutions and L1 builders.
