PANews reported on July 17 that according to CoinDesk, Bitcoin early investor Roger Ver filed a lawsuit against the Spanish government at the European Court of Human Rights last month, attempting to prevent his extradition to the United States. Ver is accused of tax fraud related to the sale of Bitcoin for $240 million in 2017.
The Spanish court previously approved the extradition request from the US Department of Justice. In the lawsuit, Ver claimed that the Spanish government's decision was "clearly contrary to judicial fairness and violated extradition procedure rules". The European Court of Human Rights has confirmed receipt of the case and is currently reviewing it. The US Department of Justice accuses Ver of not reporting the Bitcoin sales proceeds to the Internal Revenue Service during his time as a US citizen.
