A software engineer at Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX was arrested for assisting in a hacking attack.

On July 31, according to Financefeeds, a software engineer from the Indian crypto trading platform CoinDCX, which previously "suffered losses of approximately $44.2 million in an attack," was arrested for internally assisting hackers, albeit unintentionally. The employee's computer was infected with malware by hackers under the pretext of part-time work. The software was a sophisticated keylogger that allowed remote attackers to extract Agarwal's login credentials, thereby gaining unauthorized access to CoinDCX's internal systems, resulting in the theft of approximately $44 million in cryptocurrency. Neblio Technologies, CoinDCX's parent company, reported the breach to Bangalore authorities, triggering a large-scale cybercrime investigation. The internal company investigation revealed that the employee received part-time income of 1.5 million rupees.
