Hong Kong, August 22, 2025 - The highly anticipated Bitcoin Asia 2025 will be held from August 28 to 29 in Hong Kong. With an expected 15,000 attendees, it will become the second-largest Bitcoin conference globally, marking a further elevation of Hong Kong and Asia's position on the global digital economy stage.
Bitcoin is gradually becoming mainstream, with rapid adoption among both retail investors and enterprise applications. By 2023, the Asia-Pacific region already accounted for 43% of global cryptocurrency holdings, with Southeast Asia showing particularly strong growth. Indonesia's digital currency transaction volume reached $30 billion last year, while markets in Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines also demonstrate robust momentum.
Positive retail participation has driven significant institutional attention to Bitcoin. From Japan and South Korea to Hong Kong and Singapore, capital markets are accelerating their digital asset strategies. According to statistics, the Asia-Pacific crypto asset management revenue has reached $300.4 million, projected to grow to $1.46 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 25.4%. In Hong Kong, an increasing number of listed or registered companies are holding BTC inventory, demonstrating the ongoing enthusiasm. The active participation of retail and institutional investors is simultaneously driving the acceleration of regulatory frameworks, with most markets developing clearer regulations for exchanges and custodians to enhance investor confidence.
Hong Kong is at the core of this wave. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) have positioned Hong Kong as an incubator for digital assets and Web3, implementing policies through pilot programs. In April 2024, Hong Kong became one of the first Asian jurisdictions to approve Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs, a milestone that attracted significant institutional funds and laid the groundwork for broader applications. The Stablecoin Ordinance passed in May further marks an important step towards becoming an international virtual asset hub.
Against this backdrop, Bitcoin Asia 2025's choice of Hong Kong is entirely logical. The two-day event will invite over 200 global speakers, including industry leaders such as Adam Back (Blockstream), CZ (Binance), and Balaji Srinivasan (Network School).
