At the recent Bitcoin Asia event, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) – founder of Binance – affirmed that Bitcoin will definitely become a global reserve currency in the future. This statement quickly attracted the attention of the international financial community, because it reflects the trend of shifting from the traditional monetary system to the digital economy.
CZ believes that Bitcoin is no longer just a speculative asset, but is moving closer to the Vai of a real currency, widely used and capable of storing sustainable value. According to him, when a country accepts holding Bitcoin as part of its foreign exchange reserves, other countries will be forced to consider doing the same to avoid falling behind in the global economy.
In fact, this has already begun to happen. After Donald Trump officially returned to the White House in late 2024, the US government announced its intention to build a strategic reserve of Bitcoin alongside gold and oil. This decision caused the cryptocurrency market to explode, with the price of BTC approaching $90,000 at one point. CZ called this a “smart move” and believes that the US’s move will create a domino effect, forcing many other countries to join the race to accumulate Bitcoin.
Several countries and territories are also experimenting with integrating Bitcoin into their financial systems. Kyrgyzstan was once suggested by CZ to build a reserve fund using both Bitcoin and BNB to strengthen the country's finances. Even in the United States, many states such as Texas have also studied adding Bitcoin to their reserves to strengthen their position in the blockchain technology era. This shows that the vision mentioned by CZ is no longer far-fetched but has begun to take shape in reality.
