Oh Kyung-seok, CEO of Dunamu, announced his intention to aggressively enter overseas markets in the era of the blockchain revolution.
CEO Oh announced this vision and strategy at the "Upbit D Conference (UDC) 2025," held at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 9th. This marked CEO Oh's first official appearance since taking office.
He said, "If Korea responded defensively to the global Big Tech's offensive during the Internet and AI revolutions, then in the trust-based blockchain revolution, Korea can enter the global market with an offensive position." He added, "Upbit will lead the global stage as a representative player of Korea."
CEO Oh announced plans to lead the stablecoin market by unveiling his own blockchain, "Giwa Chain," and wallet, "Giwa Wallet." He explained, "Stablecoins have emerged as a bridge connecting finance and blockchain and a core pillar of financial sovereignty." He added, "The successful activation of won-denominated stablecoins depends on the distribution capabilities of exchanges and the expansion of blockchain infrastructure."
He continued, “Doonamu has been leading the expansion of the K-blockchain ecosystem by preparing Upbit Custody, a corporate trust service, and Verify BASF, a globally recognized travel rule solution,” and emphasized, “We will strive to help Korea leap forward as a global leader beyond Asia.”
Hosted by Dunamu, UDC is Korea's leading blockchain conference, held annually since its inception in 2018. Now in its eighth year, UDC 2025, themed "Blockchain, to the Mainstream," explores the growing adoption of blockchain technology and its industrial applications.
The first keynote session of the day will feature a special video conference between Eric Trump, second son of US President Donald Trump and Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, and Yoon Sun-joo, Chief Brand Impact Officer (CBIO) of Dunamu. The two will engage in a detailed discussion on the topic of "Finance, Business, and Digital Assets: Trends and Future Prospects."
The second keynote session will feature a conversation between former House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry, who spearheaded digital asset-friendly policies in the US Congress, and CBIO Yoon Sun-joo. Drawing on his experience negotiating the "FIT21" bill, which addressed digital asset classification and regulatory authority, McHenry will highlight the changing global regulatory landscape and the new market opportunities it presents.
In addition, leaders from around the world will participate and engage in in-depth discussions on major blockchain trends, including global policy, stablecoins, virtual asset payments, security, artificial intelligence (AI), and Web 3.0.
