On December 5, Cloudflare once again experienced a problem that caused users around the world to complain about not being able to access a series of familiar services. On social network X, the number of complaint posts increased sharply in just a few minutes when many major websites such as Canva or the service status monitoring site Downdetector fell into a "frozen" state, disrupting the experience of millions of users.
The impact wasn’t limited to mainstream platforms. In the crypto space, many important applications also experienced immediate connectivity issues. Centralized exchanges like Coinbase and Kraken were briefly disrupted, while the user interfaces of many DeFi protocols also went down, causing delays in transactions and data access. This was worrying for the market, especially since trading activity is often volatile on weekends.
Cloudflare confirmed that it is investigating an outage involving Dashboard and key APIs. The company has not provided a timeline for full recovery, but its engineers are said to have gone into emergency mode to isolate the cause and restore operations as soon as possible.
