Saudi ex-intelligence chief says Israel is region’s main destabilizer —— Former Saudi intelligence chief Prince Turki al-Faisal said Israel poses the greatest threat to regional stability, citing its continued military actions in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. His comments came during a panel at the Milken Institute’s Middle East and Africa Summit in Abu Dhabi. Prince Turki argued that Israel’s conduct shows it is “the troublemaker” in the region and should be restrained by the US. He pointed to near-daily Israeli incursions in Syria as well as ongoing attacks in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon despite a supposed ceasefire. He said these operations demonstrate that Israel is “hardly a harbinger of peace,” adding that Israel is acting with increasing confidence as it escalates its military campaigns across neighboring territories.
