the important thing about NFTs is not that they are subsector of "digital art" or "contemporary art"
the important thing about NFTs is that they are NFTs
"digital art" is a perfectly fine subsector of traditional art.
NFTs are a civilizational-scale idea

How central has crypto really been to your relationship with digital art? Not just as infrastructure, but as culture, values, and community
If digital art had evolved entirely outside of crypto, would you still feel the same pull? Would you collect it? Would you show up for it?
i think there is a theme that rolls through here from time to time that in order to be "accepted" by "TradArt" or whatever, we should pretend to be something we are not.
this is not only gross, but self-defeating; BTC "won" by being BTC, not by becoming JPM lite.
Agreed. If I'm right an crypto goes from $3trn to $50trn or $100trn, it will have created more wealth that tech companies, oils companies, sovereign wealth and real estate billionaires added together and multiplied by a number. Art is upstream of all wealth. These will be crypto citizens and don't give a shit about how things are "supposed" to be. The buyers will not be TradArt. They will be a super small section of buyers. The buyers will be crypto natives but much like the buyers of Chinese art are mainly Chinese. It's their art, their culture, their currency
