Foresight News , citing Russia's Kommersant newspaper, a government committee will meet in the coming days to prepare a ban on all cryptocurrency mining activities in southern Buryatia and the entire Transbaikal region.
Despite Moscow's earlier insistence that there would be no new mining ban, the new ban has still been implemented. A spokesperson for the Buryat Republic's Ministry of Electricity stated that power shortages in Irkutsk, the Transbaikal Territory, and the Buryat Republic itself "are approaching 3,000 megawatts."
