Apparently, my post about @airfrance and Starlink has triggered strong reactions across French and worldwide political circles, as well as the entrepreneurial ecosystem. To be clear, my intention was to encourage a serious rethinking of sovereignty, confidentiality, and security. Like it or not, the CLOUD Act represents a real and significant risk for European interests. That said, Air France is one of the best airlines in the world and is aiming for even higher luxury standards. It is therefore only natural for a company of that caliber to seek the best technology currently available, which today is probably Starlink. However, this does not change the fact that ideas and actions must evolve if we want to strengthen and improve European alternatives on our own territory. I am glad to have heard today that Airbus is now considering moving its critical applications to a European sovereign cloud. For those who have questioned my stance, I invite you to read my second post in the thread. I love America, the American Dream, and its entrepreneurial culture. I graduated there, and deeply appreciate many aspects of the country. This discussion is not anti-American; it is about patriotism, sovereignty, and long-term strategic autonomy. Finally, to those who prefer outrage over substance, I believe Elon Musk would respect someone who stands for patriotism and sovereignty far more than weak, unprincipled kiss-assing. Defending principles and ethics will always matter more than empty indignation.
