According to a post published on the X platform by the on-chain analytics platform Bubblemaps this evening (30th), Lighter's platform token, $LIT, has officially been launched for trading. At the same time, Lighter officially conducted a large-scale airdrop to early participants, with a total airdrop of 250 million $LIT, which, based on current market prices, is worth approximately $675 million.
According to publicly available information, Lighter, a decentralized perpetual contract exchange (Perp DEX) based on Ethereum Layer 2, uses ZK technology to verify order matching and settlement, and is considered a major competitor of Hyperliquid. This airdrop covers users with points for two seasons in 2025, totaling approximately 12.5 million points. Each point corresponds to approximately 20 $LIT. The airdrop tokens are not locked up, do not require manual claiming, and are directly distributed to users' Lighter wallets.
Taiwanese high school students earn a staggering $6 million.
It's worth noting that this was one of the largest cryptocurrency airdrops of 2025, resulting in substantial profits for many early active users. Among them, user X, @hank06171, shared their experience on the platform:
"Special thanks to @shawnchen_eth and @Lighter_xyz for their help mid-year. I noticed that the accounts with several thousand points ahead of me hadn't been affected by the witching, and while I can't compare to other top players, I still had tens of thousands of points. When the market opened that afternoon, I was in Tainan and had to urgently take the High Speed Rail back to Taipei to start my account. In short, I was incredibly moved. I sold some $LIT at the opening, and I'll gradually sell the rest over the next few days. This is a big gain for me after $STRK. Thank you blockchain, thank you crypto!"
In response, @shawnchen_eth also praised him, calling him a "genius who can write a single 6M transaction." @shawnchen_eth wrote on X:
"In Taiwan, high school students can outperform Harvard graduates, Facebook employees, Google employees, NTU graduates, doctors, lawyers, and accountants. Thanks to the amazing high school student @hank06171 for this collaboration."
