Neo founder and core developer Erik Zhang has accused Neo founder Da Hongfei of failing to fulfill promises and publicly disclose relevant financial reports. Zhang is calling on Da Hongfei to release a complete and verifiable financial report detailing all assets and expenditures managed by the Neo Foundation (NF). Zhang also stated that, according to a recent phone conversation, Da Hongfei will focus on the development and operation of NeoX and SpoonOS from January 1, 2026, and will no longer participate in Neo mainnet-related matters. In response, Da Hongfei stated that Erik Zhang controls the vast majority of Neo's funds and dominates consensus node voting, emphasizing that blockchain projects cannot be controlled by a single individual. He revealed that he has been urging Erik for years to transfer NEO/GAS tokens from personal custody to NF's multi-signature address, but Erik has consistently delayed this. Da Hongfei stated that he previously avoided publicizing the matter to maintain public trust, but his silence has been misunderstood, and he believes he should have acted sooner.
