Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino recently confirmed that in Q4 2025, Tether quietly accumulated exactly 8,888,888,888 BTC, a symbolic figure that further demonstrates the long-term strategy of the world's largest stablecoin issuer towards Bitcoin. According to monitoring data from on-chain analytics account EmberCN, the total amount of Bitcoin Tether purchased throughout Q4 2025 is estimated to be around 9,850 BTC, equivalent to nearly $876 million at market prices at that time.
Specifically, Tether 's Bitcoin purchases occurred in several phases. On November 7, 2025, Tether withdrew 961 BTC, worth approximately $97.18 million, from Bitfinex – a trading platform closely associated with Tether since its early days. On the first day of 2026, the company transferred an additional 8,888.8 BTC, equivalent to approximately $778 million, to its official Bitcoin reserve address. As of now, Tether 's Bitcoin reserve address holds a total of 96,185 BTC, with an estimated value of around $8.42 billion. This figure makes Tether the fifth largest Bitcoin wallet in the world, surpassing many traditional investment funds and financial institutions.
