Random thoughts on 2026
- The main signal I am watching for is BTC making meaningful moves against equities and Gold. 2025 was rough because you took extra volatility risk for underperformance. Need to see that change to be meaningfully bullish.
- Most altcoins remain a non starter for me unless it's a new narrative with sustained demand or something with relentless bid (E.g. ZEC).
- At the same time, crypto needs speculation. Otherwise all that's left is a few majors and institutions building on crypto rails. There needs to be a winning story somewhere.
- Think Creator coins have serious potential. Don't think any single platform has cracked it yet but it makes a lot of sense even if implementation has been difficult.
- Ownership coins are cool and I think they'll gain more traction. At the same time, don't believe every coin should be the same or crypto just becomes equity 2.0.
- Trying to size more with conviction and take less trades this year. Flip flopping too much usually leads to middling results.
- Quantum is a real risk for BTC even if people pretend it isn't. It doesn't have to actually happen for it to be an overhang.
- Think airdrops will continue to fall out of favor to token sales. The regulatory environment is much more favorable now and platforms are starting to realize airdrops don't provide the value teams are looking for.
- Equity perps and tokenized stocks are genuinely exciting and will open the floodgates to bringing more exotic assets onchain as well. Eventually everything will be tradable.
- There are still a lot of interesting things to be built in crypto. As valuations normalize there will be better opportunities for the average person.

2026 will be a year of Gold (again)
I'd be surprised if we don't get a few totally new narratives popping up this year...
