Maybe. When Putin invaded Crimea showcase of brash bravado during the Winter games, it was a chest-proud probing left jab to NATO. When he led a ground invasion to Ukraine, it was a right hook. The very good idea of strong Western allies rooted in routing out WWII axis keeps getting tested and proving very weak. Were NATO strong, intimidating and power-projecting then Greenland wouldn’t even be on the table. EU depends on US security umbrella and only since getting chastised and kicked in the pants and in the ass has their disdain grown alongside their defense budgets. I don’t admire Trump. I don’t like Trump. I don’t know if the process is intended, but the outcome is more EU unity and a more prepared posture which serves American interests
