Previously, on January 9th, Polymarket reported that nearly $840,000 was wagered on whether gold or ETH would first reach $5,000. The probability of gold reaching $5,000 was initially reported as 68%, with a deadline of June 30, 2026. If neither reaches $5,000 by then, the bets will be settled at a 50%:50% ratio. The gold price is referenced to the COMEX gold futures contract; the ETH price is referenced to the Binance ETH/USDT price.
