Tensions appear to be escalating between exchanges OKX and Binance. OKX CEO Star Xu took a swipe at Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) on X, stating, "We have long held fundamentally different values from Binance." Xu added that centralized exchanges (CEX) play a different role than decentralized exchanges (DEX) and that CEX listing decisions must come with responsibility. Xu's comments follow a post from CZ earlier today. Responding to criticism from crypto analyst Benjamin Cowen about the indiscriminate listing of memecoins, CZ questioned whether DEX listings are good while CEX listings are bad. He noted that all exchanges have listing frameworks and suggested critics consider if their own preferred tokens are not being listed. Binance has recently faced public criticism over its memecoin listing policies and its alleged role in a market crash on Oct. 10. Meanwhile, OKX was at the center of its own controversy last year regarding the listing of Pi Network (PI).
