During the summer of 2022, about six months after the release of ChatGPT 3.5, I met up with a former programmer colleague for dinner. During our conversation, I told him that I had tried ChatGPT and that the future of programming would be extremely difficult. I said GPT would significantly increase productivity, and ordinary programmers would be far less capable than AI, inevitably being replaced by AI, leading to mass job losses. I advised him to plan ahead. He said no, AI wasn't that powerful, and programmers weren't so easily replaced. Later, I learned that major companies were pushing AI tools, and his company soon laid off employees. Even now, it's difficult for ordinary programmers, and it will be even harder in the future. We've already reached the point where you can write a detailed requirement to AI, and it can create a complete product on its own. Clawd can also directly take over computers to help handle daily tasks. The entire productivity of society is being restructured. At this rate, future development will only exceed our imagination. We are at a crossroads, experiencing the modern AI industrial revolution. As ordinary people, we either keep up with the times or be abandoned by them; there are no other options.
