i was the unhappiest ive ever been at millennium (through no fault of anyones, just the stress of the job) which was very confusing to me as that was the peak of finance to me at the time, i had achieved my dream role and i wasnt happy specifically, what i discovered was tough about finding algorithmic signals was there was no feedback mechanism if you do a project, its done, and you can move on if you fail to find a robust signal in a promising dataset, did it just not exist? or were you not good enough to find it. as someone extremely hard on myself this set space was very exhausting all this is to say you might not know what you want. my dream from high school was to be a risk-taking quant at the highest levels of finance. once i achieved it i realized it wasnt what i actually enjoyed, and that i much preferred to be right on size on more product-based investments
