Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X, confirmed that the platform will soon be rolling out Smart Cashtags in the coming weeks, allowing users to XEM stock and cryptocurrency data directly on their timeline.
Bier also said X would crack down harder on apps that create spam posts or encourage "ganging up" and harassing others. This is the latest statement in a chain of remarks from him, which have sometimes irritated the crypto trading community on X.
“I really want crypto to spread on X, but apps that incentivize spamming and harassing random users aren’t the way to go,” Bier wrote. “And yes, in about a week or two we’ll be launching a bunch of features, including Smart Cashtags, which will let you trade stocks and crypto directly from your timeline.”

Bier also clarified that X will not “execute orders” or Vai as a brokerage firm. The platform will only build financial data tools and external links.
Christopher Park, director of X's developer platform, also posted that any form of automation and spam via data scraping or APIs will be flagged and thoroughly investigated. He emphasized that there will be no place for bots/programs that create or encourage large-scale manipulation, "engagement farming," spam, and scraping.
Bier had previously teased the feature on January 11th, calling X the "best source of financial news" and saying "hundreds of billions of dollars are deployed based on what people read here." At the time, he said the team was gathering feedback before a wider rollout.
Smart Cashtags is an upgrade to the current mechanism on X, where users add a dollar sign ($) before the code to create a clickable link. With the new system, users can specify the exact asset type or smart contract address when typing the ticker. When a tag is clicked, users will see a real-time price chart, related posts on the platform, and even direct trading options. Some initial simulations show "Buy" and "Sell" buttons located right next to the price data.
Bier said the API behind Smart Cashtags will work in near real-time for anything that's "Mint" on-chain . This paves the way for small Capital Token (not yet listed on a centralized exchange) to also be displayed alongside stocks like $NVDA.
