One of the more painful lessons I learned early in crypto was taking 12am meetings for 2 weeks for a company I wasn’t paid by.
I asked for two basics: an NDA and a paid scope. The answer was always, “after the deal closes.”
I kept helping because I wanted to be supportive.
Lo and behold, after the deal closed I never heard from them again.
In hindsight, it was a clear red flag: if a team can’t establish basic professional boundaries during stress, they won’t suddenly develop them later.
Protect your time and choose who you help carefully.
