X's Product Director, Nikita Bier, suggested the platform might launch a crypto-related product, posting that "crypto has had a tough year" and X should "release something to improve the situation."

Although there has been no official confirmation, the post quickly attracted responses from many prominent members of the community, with specific integration suggestions. Fred Krueger responded, calling for support for native Bitcoin (BTC) directly on X.
Another user suggested that paying content creators with the USDC stablecoin would improve the experience for both creators and the platform.

These responses demonstrate a growing demand within the crypto user community on X for deeper digital asset features.
Smart Cashtags and transaction infrastructure
X has taken concrete steps toward crypto-related features. On February 14th, Bier announced Smart Cashtags – a tool that allows users to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies directly from their timeline on X. This feature builds upon the platform's existing cashtag system.
Previously, there had been much speculation that crypto features might be integrated into the X Money service, but the platform has yet to Unconfirmed these plans.

In addition, X appointed Benji Taylor as its new Head of Design in March. Previously, he was the Director of Product at AAVE Labs and the lead designer for Coinbase's Base network.
Taylor's deep experience in blockchain is XEM as a sign that X is preparing to integrate crypto more deeply into its product ecosystem.
Whether Bier's post was a genuine product teaser or simply intended for community interaction, the combination of Smart Cashtags, Taylor's recruitment, and the development of X Money shows that the platform's crypto ambitions are progressing in multiple directions.
