Prithvi Subburaj, formerly a general manager at Google, has accepted the position of chief operating officer at OP Labs – a key development company of Optimism Collective, which manages the Layer 2 Optimism network.
OP Labs is a research and development company that aims to improve the scalability of Ethereum applications through the use of optimistic rollups.
Subburaj's appointment comes after Karl Floersch, one of the co-founders of Optimism, moved to the CEO position at OP Labs earlier this year. According to the company, Subburaj is the first executive to be hired following this change in leadership.
“Prithvi brings the necessary expertise and leadership to scale our team and processes to support this non-linear growth and future potential,” – said Karl Floersch, CEO of OP Labs.
Spent 15 years at Google
Subburaj has a history at Google in leadership Vai focused on software engineering, and most recently managed wireless subscription services for major tech company Google Fi. He has worked at Google for over 15 years.
He has joined OP Labs at a time when the company is focused on developing key technology components such as the recent Bedrock upgrade and the upcoming Fault Proof system .
Previously, the company developed OP Stack, a software package that has been used in the development of Layer 2 chain such as Coinbase-backed Base, Zora and others.
