Cryptocurrency market today
The cryptocurrency market today continues to have a growth trend. Bitcoin today continued to recover and is currently above $65,000.
Most altcoins are also rising today, ETH and BNB are up around 4%. The total cryptocurrency market Capital today rose above $2.5 trillion on CoinGecko .
Bitcoin successfully conquered 65,000 USD
It's safe to say that last week leading up to the fourth Bitcoin halving was pretty bad. The asset fell from more than $70,000 to $65,000 last Friday. It then continued to fall to $61,000 a day later.
After regaining traction on Monday, BTC was in free fall again midweek. BTC continued to fall on Friday amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. The last major price drop took BTC below $60,000 just hours before the highly anticipated halving event.
However, the cryptocurrency rose over $5k over the next half-day. It then plateaued at around $65,000 when the halving was completed .
Since then, there has been little movement and Bitcoin is currently at around $65,000 again after failing at $66,000 today. Its market Capital remains below $1.3 trillion, while its dominance over altcoins has taken a hit and dropped to just under 51%.
SHIB takes the lead
Altcoins have performed a lot better than BTC over the past 24 hours, led by the second largest meme coin – Shiba Inu. SHIB has skyrocketed 18% and now trades above $0.000027.
Other lower- Capital meme coins also delivered double-digit gains, such as BONK, FLOKI and PEPE.
Solana, Avalanche, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Chainlink, Polygon and Polkadot are also in the green, with gains of around 6-8%.
