Gitcoin is a donation platform for open source software. Users can support various decentralized open source projects through Gitcoin, and early projects can also receive donations on Gitcoin to maintain operations.
Some well-known projects such as Uniswap, 1inch, MaskNetwork, ENS, etc. have participated in Gitcoin Grants, so Gitcoin is also called "Ethereum's arsenal."
In each round of Gitcoin Grants, in addition to receiving donations from users, Gitcoin will also use the Quadratic Funding model to allocate funds from the Ethereum Foundation to high-quality projects. This allocation method has also been recognized by Vitalik Vitalik and has greatly promoted the community influence of Gitcoin Grants.

Gitcoin Grants donation activities have been held 19 times so far (17 rounds + Alpha Round + Beta Round). While helping the project grow, it also brings rewards such as token airdrops to donors. More and more users are entering the world of Web3 through Gitcoin.
Gitcoin has been exploring more efficient ways to donate, working to move from quadratic matching (aka QF’s centralized grants) to GitcoinDAO: creating a decentralized and customizable grant protocol.

01 Introduction to Gitcoin Grants 20
In the guides written for the past few donation rounds, we introduced Gitcoin's donation philosophy, round structure, and prize pool amounts, but as a minimalist guide, it should be as easy to read as a 140-character tweet 📖:

💰 Gitcoin's donation rounds are divided into OSS Program rounds and Community Rounds. The 1 million funds for the Program round come from the Gitcoin Foundation, and the 500,000 funds for the Community Round come from partners/community self-raised funds.
This time, Gitcoin will be donated on Arbitrum, and the user's Passport will be automatically verified, without the need to collect Stamps as in the past. Users with rich transaction records on the mainnet will receive a higher matching donation weight.

Q1: Why do I need to participate in Gitcoin donations?
A1: Gitcoin donation is a good on-chain interaction behavior. Optimism and Celestia have used "users making Gitcoin donations on the mainnet" as one of the weights for airdrops. Donation is also a way to increase Passport scores at a low cost.
Q2: How much should I donate?
A2: Although Gitcoin has no limit on the donation amount, the minimum amount for each project is at least greater than 1U. On the other hand, due to the fluctuation of ETH prices, DAI can be chosen for donation; if ETH is used for donation, considering the price fluctuation, it is recommended to donate more than 0.0005 ETH. (Note: Some project airdrops are based only on whether or not a donation is made, while some project airdrops are based on the amount of donation as a weight)
Q3: When should I make a donation?
A3: Donation should not be made too late. In the last few days, it is easy to encounter network congestion and miss the donation time. Passport verification for this donation is already automated, so users can directly donate using a wallet with mainnet transaction records to obtain weights. Q4: Can I earn airdrop benefits by donating to multiple accounts?
A4: Unfortunately, Gitcoin's airdrop expectations and benefits are not as good as before, and now it is more of a "weight" for other projects' airdrops. According to the instructions for this round of witch detection, we recommend that users with multiple accounts pay attention to diversity when donating. They can adopt a 2+1 donation method, that is, 2 target projects plus 1 random project, and avoid too regular amounts and donation times.
Q5: What tools can I use to check my donation status?
A5: Users can view project status by donation amount and number of donors through Chaineye, or use MiniBridge to transfer funds to the ARB chain for donation, which can minimize network fees.

03 Gitcoin Grants 20 Donation Tutorial
Gitcoin donations are not difficult overall and can be divided into three parts:
1. Obtaining Funds
Cross-chain funds to Arbitrum. Here we can use MiniBridge to cross some ETH from other chains. For small transactions such as Gitcoin, using MiniBridge can achieve faster arrival speed and lower cross-chain fees.

Select any section, such as Web3 Infrastructure, and you can see that there are currently 63 projects in this section, with a prize pool of 300,000 USDC.

We can find the donation object by searching the project name, for example, search for 🔍 Minibridge, then click the shopping cart in the lower right corner of the project, and then check out in the shopping cart in the upper right corner.

Enter the amount you want to donate, and click Apply to all to apply it to all donation recipients. In this interface, you can see the predicted matching donation amount.
