1/ Finding Zero-to-One innovations in crypto is my ultimate quest.
The rare gems that change the game.
Arweave's AO 'absurdly scalable' hyper parallel computer could be just the thing I look for: 🧵
2/ Arweave started with a simple yet a powerful idea: permanent, secure storage of documents and applications.
If you have Ethereum NFTs, chances are the JPEG is stored here. Or on Filecoin's IPFS.
3/ Arweave allows for data to be stored permanently with a one-time fee.
The protocol connects those with spare hard drive space to users needing long-term data storage or content hosting. twitter.com/139317113843653427...
4/ Beyond simple storage, Arweave supports the permaweb:
A permanent, decentralized version of the internet where everything from images to websites is preserved forever, avoiding issues like broken links and lost content.
5/ More importantly, in an era of increasing government crackdown over digital assets or DeFi interfaces, Arweave's offers a solution for maintaining an open and free digital future.
Smart contracts are decentralized but the front-ends are not.
6/ Now, here's where things get much more interesting:
Arweave recently launched the testnet for Arweave AO, a "hyper-parallel computer."
AO is capable of executing multiple operations simultaneously without performance degradation. twitter.com/175058463938593996...
7/ AO's goal is to merge the reliability and security of blockchain with the performance capabilities of high-end commercial servers like Amazon AWS.
It's not the first time we hear claims for a scalable L1 with unlimited TPS, so how do they do it?
8/ One standout feature of AO is its parallel processing ability, allowing numerous processes to run simultaneously without affecting each other.
It's like a smartphone that never slows down, regardless of how many apps are running.
9/ In contrast, Ethereum manages all transactions and synchronizes all nodes which create bottlenecks during high traffic periods.
Solana offers higher throughput but still shares a single state, leading to potential lags and downtime.
10/ AO runs many independent processes in parallel, which means it doesn't have the 'single lane.'
This architecture allows for higher scalability and reliability, especially for complex tasks like AI data training.

11/ There's more to it that I can barely wrap my head around.
For example, Autonomous processes are self-running programs that can perform tasks without human oversight.
A key feature that smart contracts lack.
12/ So now Arweave competes with other L1s.
In an interview to The Block, Arweave founder @samecwilliams said:
“I think there's a very good shot that if we can communicate it correctly, this is the last decentralized smart contracting machine that really gains traction”
13/ One thing I learned in crypto is that truly innovative stuff will first confuse you but I try to keep an open mind.
So, is it really the 0-to-1 innovation or just a hyped promise?
This thread is an attempt to clarify my thoughts but also to get your feedback.
14/ Testnet is already live and you can try some dApps already:
1) Go to @Permaswap
2) To trade on Permaswap you can deposit native $AR or native $ETH
3) (Optional) Use Arweave wallet @arconnectio
So, it's like testnet but on mainnet! $TRUNK is the 1st memecoin. NFA!
15/ Btw, Arweave is one of the 5 L1s that fall under the radar on CT.

Note: the deposit transactions really take a long time to process so you'll need to wait.
(for the very scalable layer it's pretty slow lol)
