Coinbase's CEO, Chief Policy Officer and VP of US Policy all came out & claimed a combination that this report was "misinformation", "totally false", "a total lie", and, "categorically false". Problem is it's true. When @TFTC21 stood by its reporting, they all went radio silent! x.com/TFTC21/status/…

Great reporting by @EleanorTerrett. The establishment hostility to crypto pre-Trump was really hostility towards to permissionless networks. For example, the Basel capital rules were punitive, but only with regard to crypto assets on open networks. Much of the US political attack against crypto - including the hostility of tradfi leaders - was aimed at open networks. Kudos to @USComptroller and the @USOCC for taking a stand for tech neutrality, democratized networks and economic freedom. twitter.com/faryarshirzad/stat...

Coinbase submitted a letter to the @federalreserve strongly supporting the creation of a payments-specific Fed account. The Payment Account represents an important step toward modernizing the U.S. payment system and ensuring that the United States remains globally competitive in financial services innovation. Many jurisdictions — such as the UK, EU, Brazil, and India — already permit certain non-bank financial institutions to access central bank payment infrastructure, which has accelerated competition, reduced settlement risk, improved payment speed and reliability, and fostered innovation in payments. Kudos to Governor Waller for taking the lead to bring this important initiative to the US.

Good article in the @WSJ by @greg_ip underscoring that wealth increasingly comes from owning capital. But relatively few people have meaningful access to capital markets. Our recent @CoinbaseCBI paper highlights the global capital chasm and how tokenization and good policy choices can solve for this by increasing participation in a critical engine of wealth creation. Tokenized securities become globally accessible, fractionally owned, and dramatically cheaper to trade and settle. No permission required. No gatekeepers. Expanding access to digital assets = expanding economic freedom.

Capital markets are quickly moving onchain. The assets through tokenization, and the collateral through stablecoins. Hugely important and timely step forward on this front by @CFTC @ChairmanSelig.

Today, @CFTC staff is expanding the list of eligible tokenized collateral to include stablecoins issued by national trust banks. With the enactment of the GENIUS Act and the CFTC’s new eligible collateral framework, America is the global leader in stablecoin innovation. x.com/CFTC/status/20…

In Brussels today at the European Parliament @Europarl_EN a full house gathered to discuss tokenization in the future of Europe’s financial system. Great to see the momentum behind blockchain infrastructure in Europe, and to see my @coinbase colleague Roeland Van Der Stappen making the case for financial infrastructure being built on permissionless base layers.

This misconception conflates two fundamentally different products: prime MMFs (backed by risky commercial paper like Lehman), which suffered runs during the crises, and government MMFs (backed 1:1 by US Treasuries), which experienced just the opposite—they were safe assets. GENIUS stablecoins follow the government model.
