Layer Zero has published an article recapping 2025.
Unlike most projects that made a lot of noise around TGE, Layer Zero has quietly achieved remarkable results. As a leading interoperability project, its past achievements seem to be indicative of its future.
1. Problem Definition
- Multichain is no longer an option, but a necessity (default)
- The focus shifts from "where to build" to "what multichain enables."
2. Layer Zero's Core Primitives (Infrastructure)
a. OFT Standard (Token Standard Framework)
- Single-supply tokens can be transferred seamlessly across 150+ chains.
- Already adopted by 61% of $50B+ assets and stablecoins.
- Transfers of tens to hundreds of millions of dollars are possible in minutes and seconds, at the cost of gas fees. → OFT adoption as a distribution strategy will accelerate further.
b. Application-Owned Security
- Apps can directly select and configure their own DVN sets for multi-chain deployment.
- Designed for variable security levels, from small apps to organizations.
- 150M+ messages delivered to date, adopted by 620+ teams.
→ Layer Zero's DVN demonstrates that multi-chain-based app design is no longer possible without sacrificing security.
c. OApp & lzRead (Messaging & Data)
- Beyond asset transfer, cross-chain transfer (OApp) and query and verification (lzRead) of logic, status, and data are possible.
- Real-world apps like EtherFi, Pendle, and Stargate generate hundreds to tens of thousands of messages per day.
→ Design multi-chain apps as single apps.
3. Layer Zero from a Chain Perspective (Blockchains)
- New chains: Immediate inflow of billions of dollars in TVL immediately after launch.
- Existing chains: External expansion of assets and gas tokens can create a growth flywheel.
4. Layer Zero from an Institutional Perspective (Institutions)
- Stablecoins, RWAs, and payments all presuppose multi-chains.
- PayPal, Wyoming, BlackRock, Deutsche Telekom, and others are entering the real-world operational phase.
- The most attractive option as operational infrastructure.
→ In this case, institutions become apps running on (multi-)chains.
5. Layer Zero from an AI Perspective (Agents)
- AI agents are essentially multi-chains. Chain-Agnostic
- Autonomous asset transfer and decision-making through messaging and data query
- The ideal user experience is "one transaction, with multiple chains operating behind the scenes."
→ LayerZero can function as an abstracted infrastructure for this AI era.
6. In conclusion
- Tokens, security, and data primitives have already been completed
- LayerZero's interoperability role goes beyond simple connectivity and is a key infrastructure that accelerates adoption.

In last year's year-end report, I also considered this abstraction stack a key element in accelerating adoption. In 2026, I will delve deeper into this topic with Heechang, who has been a great supporter of LayerZero!

- Layer Zero: Pushing the boundaries of cross-chain
- Interoperability 3.0 - The infrastructure is built, now it's the applications that take center stage
