Mars Finance News, September 7, according to Cointelegrph, the number of paying users of OpenAI's various business units (including ChatGPT Enterprise, Team and Edu) has increased by nearly 67% since April, and has exceeded 1 million as of September 5. It is seeking to introduce more expensive subscription plans for upcoming large language models (such as Strawberry and Orion AI models), with monthly fees as high as US$2,000.
Apple and Nvidia are reportedly interested in investing in an upcoming funding round at OpenAI that could value the AI company at more than $100 billion. Microsoft also participated in the round and holds a 49% stake in OpenAI, having invested $13 billion since 2019. On August 29, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT’s weekly active users had doubled over the past year to more than 200 million. Despite this growth, the company’s revenue has fallen short of expectations, with annualized sales of approximately $3.4 billion by May 2024.
