Catizen claims to have a total of 30 million users and is the highest-grossing among Telegram apps.
GameFi platform Catizen on Telegram, a tap-to-earn and play-to- Airdrop game, announced on September 7 that it has reached a total of 34 million users in its first six months. In a post on social network X, Catizen also claimed that it is the highest-earning app on Telegram with 800,000 paying users with an Medium Medium of $33 per paying user.
According to a press release, PLUTO Studio, the makers of Citizen, recently received an undisclosed investment from The Open Platform, the largest developer group on the TON network.
Catizen was launched in early 2024 as a Pluto effort. During that time, the project also received support from Hashkey and Binance Labs .
According to a blog post, “HashKey will provide regulatory guidance and advice, as well as technical support for blockchain infrastructure operations, for Catizen and other products under its umbrella.”
The partnership marks HashKey’s entry into the TON ecosystem and Catizen as the company’s first Web3 partner.
In an interview, Ben El-Baz, CEO of HashKey Global, attributed the rapid increase in the number of developers on the TON blockchain to HashKey’s involvement. According to El-Baz, this signals “the arrival of a period of prosperity and abundance for the ecosystem.”
El-Baz also said that TON offers Catizen and other projects something that no other platform can: a 900 million-strong user base.
Clicker games, or tap-to-earn games as they are commonly known, have seen a significant surge in attention throughout 2024. Hamster Kombat, another Telegram-based gaming experience, recently surpassed 300 million users. The Hamster Foundation, the company behind the game, launched the largest airdrop in history. To do so, they would have to beat Uniswap ’s 2020 Airdrop , which distributed over $6.43 billion.
