Last October, Virtuals launched the concept of AI agent Tokenization. This was a bold move, but to be honest, most people didn't pay much attention to it. At the time, the concept was still premature. But now? Virtuals has achieved 50x, 100x returns in many agents, and suddenly everyone is starting to pay attention.
However, the question is, have you seen those 50x to 100x returns? If you want to get similar outsized returns, you need to be ahead of the curve, you need a solid thesis and patience to position yourself in front of the crowd.
If you join now, you may see 5x to 10x returns, which is still not bad, but far from the 50x to 100x returns that early adopters have achieved. Hindsight is always 20/20, isn't it?
You may ask, so is it too late to join now? No, it's not too late yet. But you need a strategy. The "alpha" strategy that was in place two months ago is no longer the optimal strategy. The Virtuals ecosystem has become very crowded, and the easy opportunities have long been snapped up.
So what should we do now? First, don't limit yourself to one ecosystem. Base to Solana, Virtuals to ai16z, these are not the most important - both ecosystems have opportunities. This is not about "rooting for a team" or attacking others, but about positioning yourself for good opportunities wherever they may be.
For example, myself, I don't care if it's Base, Solana, or anywhere else, I'll keep an eye on it. Of course, I have a preference for Virtuals (I often post in support of them), but I keep an open mind. The key is to stay flexible, look for value, not blind loyalty.
How to find promising agents
The key to successful agents lies in their uniqueness and utility. If they lack utility, the agent Tokens will experience a brief speculative frenzy like 95% of "memecoins" before losing attention.
A successful agent needs to provide a unique product with tangible real value. If the team knows how to attract attention, that's even better:
They can build an engaging legend or story around the agent.
They can quickly and consistently roll out new features.
They actively meet the needs and demands of the community.
When these elements come together, the agent will find product-market fit (PMF). Those teams that continue to execute and innovate after finding PMF, like @aixbt_agent, can lead their niche and become pillars of the ecosystem.
Currently, X is more focused on narratives and utility around providing and conveying investment returns. There is huge demand for agents that provide signals and insights for trading.
Example: @aixbt_agent: The gold standard agent focused on Alpha.

DAO-style hedge funds, managed by human or AI agents, using their capital to invest.

Investment DAOs are powerful because they provide:
Endorsement of high-quality agents.

2. On-chain Trading
On-chain trading is a topic that is widely embraced by the X crypto community, because we love to see the journey of someone turning $1,000 into $1 million. It's not just about the money; it's about the inspiration of seeing someone work hard and succeed.
The first wave of trading agents can effectively leverage this momentum, able to drive portfolio growth and showcase their frameworks and strategies in real-time. This is an early theme, and under this incentive, some exciting participants have already emerged.
Examples:
@Gekko_Agent: A self-improving trading agent on Virtuals, delivering results using the @getaxal infrastructure.
@BigTonyXBT: Built on Cod3x, focused on using self-executing trades on major currencies.
@ProjectPlutus_: With an intriguing Token symbol $PPCOIN, this agent combines real-time analysis and automated DCA execution.
I expect on-chain trading agents to be a focus in Q1/Q2 2025.
Focusing on Developer Utility
As the ecosystem evolves, the need for developer tools becomes increasingly important.
Examples:
@soleng_agent: Monitors pull requests (indicating the agent tool can monitor and track code changes by team members), performs initial reviews, and acts as an AI judge for hackathons.
@h4ck_terminal: A white hat agent focused on bounty tasks and vulnerability checks.
@CertaiK_Agent: Specializes in security audits for agents.

3. Privacy and Confidentiality (TEE)
Led by @marvin_tong and @PhalaNetwork on Solana, Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) have enabled fully autonomous agents.
Examples:

@sporedotfun: TEE agent with genetic traits passed on to descendants.
Neural network experiments like @deepwormxyz.
Virtuals currently doesn't have any TEE agents, the first one will certainly see a value surge.
4. Strategies Beyond Narratives
Being able to transcend the mainstream and predict future narratives, you will be able to secure returns of 100x or more. This is how I entered Virtuals early, when the market cap was less than $30 million. I believe the emerging narratives for 2025 are:
DeFi agents
NSFW agents
Robotics
Data
Gamification of agents
Swarm/Collective Intelligence
Infrastructure
