Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang today presented the company's latest technologies in the field of AI and robotics at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the US. He also announced the rise of "Agentic AI", predicting that AI agents will drive industries worth trillions of dollars and fundamentally change the way people work.
The Era of AI Agents Has Arrived
Huang said "the era of AI agents has arrived" in his speech, describing a transition from generative AI to agentic AI, a future driven by intelligent AI agents that can assist with various tasks across industries. He referred to this emerging field as a "multi-trillion dollar opportunity" and emphasized that Nvidia will be at the forefront of this transformation.
At the beginning of the speech, Nvidia played a video showcasing the growing importance of AI in everyday life, from the AI safety features in vehicles to cartoon-style robots comforting sick children. The video depicted AI agents gradually integrating into healthcare, transportation, and personal well-being, and demonstrated how AI technology can help people "regain lost capabilities", such as restoring language and mobility.
While generative AI excels in creativity and automation, agentic AI is more like a digital assistant, capable of handling workflows, solving problems, and providing real-time support in various industries such as HR, software engineering, and medicine. Huang described AI agents as a new digital workforce, and in the future, every company's IT department will become the HR department for AI agents.
Huang explained that today, IT departments manage and maintain a large number of software, but in the future, they will manage, train, onboard, and improve a large number of AI agents to provide services for the company, thus gradually evolving into the HR department for AI agents.
Huang emphasized that in the future, every software engineer, designer, and knowledge worker will need an AI supercomputer to enhance their efficiency. In this context, agentic AI and general robotics technology will become the core of future industry development. The successful deployment of agentic robots, autonomous vehicles, and humanoid robots will create an unprecedented scale of technological market globally.
AI Agents Significantly Improve Enterprise Efficiency
According to Nvidia's statistics, there are currently more than 1.5 billion enterprise-grade cameras deployed globally, generating about 7 trillion hours of video per year, but less than 1% of the video content is watched by humans in real-time. This means that many important operational incidents may be overlooked and go unnoticed, leading to significant losses. However, the AI Agent blueprint can greatly solve these problems.
Interactive AI agents with built-in visual perception capabilities can serve as ever-ready video analysts, helping to improve factory operations, enhance worker safety, maintain smooth traffic flow, and even boost athlete performance.
Looking to the future, Huang believes that the AI reasoning process will no longer be a simple single-step response. AI agents will be able to self-converse and generate answers, reflect, reason, and continuously optimize. As the generation speed of AI tokens increases and the cost decreases, the quality of AI services will significantly improve, meeting a wider range of application needs.
