PANews reported on April 8th that according to The Block, the Aavegotchi community based on the Aave protocol passed a proposal with over 95% support, deciding to migrate from the Polygon network to Coinbase's Ethereum Layer 2 network Base. As part of the migration plan, the development company Pixelcraft Studios will terminate the operation of its Layer 3 solution "Geist". All on-chain assets, including Aavegotchi character Non-Fungible Tokens, wearables, and badges, will be 1:1 mapped and minted on the Base chain; the complete migration is expected to take 4-6 weeks, including smart contract audit period; the original Polygon contract will be upgraded to read-only mode, prohibiting asset transfers and state changes. The proposal noted: "Since 2022, the TVL of the Polygon PoS chain has been continuously stagnant or declining. Although the game deployment location theoretically should not affect the experience, user traffic has always followed liquidity."
Pixelcraft Studios had previously streamlined its team to cope with the market winter. Aavegotchi founder coderdan emphasized: "Although EVM game projects currently face challenges, we still remain optimistic about the EVM ecosystem in the long term. The Base chain has the most long-term growth potential and will become the ideal home for Aavegotchi."
