PANews reports on May 21st that according to the Red Star News public account, the main suspects in the kidnapping and ransom case of the highly anticipated Filipino Chinese "Steel King" and founding president of the Philippines China Chamber of Commerce, Guo Congyan, were arrested at a luxury resort on Boracay Island in the Philippines. It has been confirmed that the two arrested suspects are Gong Wenli (alias "Kelly") and Wu Jiaping (phonetic, alias "Wu Jiabang"). Among them, Gong Wenli is considered one of the masterminds of this kidnapping case, primarily responsible for luring the victim to the place where he was kidnapped, managing the digital wallet storing the 200 million peso ransom, and money laundering operations. Another main suspect, Jonin Lin, remains at large.
Currently, only part of the ransom is found in the tracked cryptocurrency wallets; approximately 1.36 million US dollars in ransom has been withdrawn through an account in Cambodia, which US authorities have marked as suspected money laundering.
