According to ChainCatcher, citing CoinDesk, Brazil has canceled its long-standing tax exemption policy on cryptocurrency gains. Under the new temporary decree (Decree No. 1303), personal cryptocurrency profits will be subject to a unified tax rate of 17.5%.
Previously, individuals selling cryptocurrencies not exceeding 35,000 reais (approximately $6,300) per month were exempt from taxation. Before this change, profits exceeding this limit were taxed at a progressive rate, with the highest rate reaching 22.5% for transactions over $5.4 million.
