World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a crypto project directly linked to the family of US President Donald Trump, has just made a big splash in the memecoin market after hinting at investing in the “Sh t P ss Skin Can” (SPSC) Token . This is a memecoin associated with a controversial quote by WLFI co-founder Chase Herro that “even canned shit can be sold to the right customer group if the story is good enough.”
This somewhat bold statement by Herro from 2018 is being recalled by the crypto community when World Liberty posted an announcement to buy SPSC on the official X account. Just a status line “If they create a coin to honor the co-founder of WLFI… we’re in” with an eagle and finger pointing up icon immediately caused SPSC to explode. According to market data, this memecoin once skyrocketed more than 140% in just a few minutes, before correcting but still maintaining a gain of more than 130% for the day, trading around $0.0063 with a Capital of approximately $6.8 million.
The memecoin community said that SPSC was created as a “tribute” to Herro’s famous quote that “if you tell a compelling story, even the most bizarre product can be worth billions.” Herro then Chia World Liberty’s post, adding a box emoji – adding to the excitement.
Despite World Liberty’s claim to be buying SPSC, on-chain tracking data from Arkham shows that the project’s treasury has yet to show any signs of collecting Token. World Liberty’s Treasury is currently worth over $7.4 billion, of which $7.1 billion is WLFI – the ecosystem’s native Token .
SPSC is a Solana memecoin that launched in early November via the Bonk.fun platform, which allows for the creation of Token in the popular “memecoin launchpad” style. The community behind SPSC, which includes prominent traders in the “memecoin trenches” scene such as MarcellxMarcell, has been working to integrate the Token into the World Liberty ecosystem. One of the main reasons is that SPSC’s primary trading pair is with USD1, World Liberty Financial’s own stablecoin.
