The Busan Digital Asset Exchange (Bdan) will unveil its mid- to long-term plan to transform Busan into a blockchain-centric city through the 'Blockchain Week in Busan 2025' (BWB2025), which will be held on the 22nd.
On the 16th, Bidan announced that it will host BWB2025 at the Signiel Busan Grand Ballroom on the 22nd. This event, co-hosted by the Busan Ilbo, Maeil Business Newspaper, and Bidan, and organized by Bidan and Bione Media, will be the largest blockchain conference in the southern region.
The theme of BWB2025, now in its fourth year, is "Beyond Connection, Into Nexus." It envisions a future where technology seamlessly connects people's daily lives, transcending regions and borders to integrate the world into a single network.
The event's keynote speakers will be Hashed CEO Kim Seo-jun and Japanese stablecoin issuer JPYC CEO Noritaka Okabe. Kim will present Busan's role and potential under the theme, "Busan: Asia's Digital Finance Hub: A New Financial Order Unleashed by RWA and Web3 Infrastructure." Okabe will focus his presentation on "The Asian Stablecoin Competition Triggered by JPYC and Options for the Digitalization of the Korean Won."
At this year's BWB2025, visitors will be able to witness the future vision of the "Target 2026 Blockchain City Busan" strategy in action. In particular, key projects by Bidan, which has been building Busan's blockchain infrastructure, will be showcased. Bidan's highly anticipated Web3 digital wallet, "Bidan Pocket," developed in collaboration with Naver Financial and Hashed, will also be unveiled for the first time.
The Silk Pouch, currently under development for Busan citizens, is designed as a core urban infrastructure that integrates Web2 and Web3 environments and enables free exchange between cash and virtual assets. The idea is to integrate diverse aspects of daily life, from administrative services to payments, transportation, and asset management, into a single wallet, offering a new standard for digital living.
Additionally, the "Sidan Pop Pop" application, which expands upon the existing gift certificate distribution method, and the official Sidan character unveiling ceremony, symbolizing the blockchain era, will be held. The launch ceremony for "Beyond Busan," the largest university student support group in the Busan area, will also be held during the event.
Expert presentation sessions were also diverse. Lee Sang-yoon, CEO of Korea Gold Exchange Digital Asset, will explain the direction of ITcen Global's gold-backed token business. Han In-sook, COO of Exynos, who oversaw technology and service planning for Silk Pop Pop, will discuss the changing value exchange structure in the mobile futures market, and Eom Tae-kyung, Managing Director of Ringnet, will discuss the evolution of Web3-based urban financial infrastructure.
In addition, domestic and international experts, including Shinsuke Waka, Head of Digital Finance at Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Kimihiro Mine, CEO of Finoject, Charles Kok, Investment Director at UOB Ventures, Junsik Shim, CEO of Bion Media, Lee Jung-hee, Professor at Korea University's Graduate School of Information Security, Hongyeol Ryu, CEO of Bidax, Hyojin Park, CEO of Sejong DX, and Gwangrim Ko, Executive Director of Focus AI, will participate to share various models and prospects for blockchain cities. Applications for participation in BWB2025 are available through the official website.
Kim Sang-min, CEO of Silk, said, “BWB2025 will be a place to experience the vision of ‘Target 2026 Blockchain City Busan’ where the daily lives of citizens around the world are connected as a single flow,” and added, “I hope that this will be a place of connection and union that will expand innovations that started in Busan into global standards and create a new model for digital finance and blockchain cities.”
